Key Changes for Nurse-Led Clinics in Queensland

S4 Cosmetic Injectable Medicines:

– Registered Nurses (RNs) are not authorized to purchase S4 cosmetic injectable medicines. This change aims to enhance safety and control over these regulated substances.
– Only medical practitioners (doctors) or nurse practitioners (NPs) can acquire and maintain custody of S4 medicines within a clinic setting.

Possession and Administration:

– RNs may only possess S4 cosmetic injectable medicines for the purpose of administering a medication prescribed by a medical professional or dispensed according to its approved label.
– Proper adherence to these regulations is essential to avoid legal repercussions and ensure patient safety.
