Our Treatments

Wrinkle Injections and Muscle Relaxants

Injections

Throughout life we show several facial expressions. Over time these expressions form lines and wrinkles and for some these lines begin to deepen. Muscle relaxant injections temporarily relax the muscles and soften the lines and wrinkles to improve our appearance making it look more rested and youthful.

Treatment Areas

The upper face:

  • Frown lines or Glabella lines which appear due to frowning, squinting or concentrating.
  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Crows feet which radiate from the corner of the eyes.

The lower face:

The aim of treating the lower face is to achieve antiaging and prevention, its subtle and rejuvenating. When injecting the muscles with a muscle relaxant we target the muscles of the lips, lower face and neck that pull the face down.

  • Gummy smile, we treat the elevator muscle of the upper lip causing it to relax
  • Lip flip, we treat the a small area of the orbicularis oris muscle (the muscle that surrounds the lips). Relaxing tension in this muscle can allow the lip to flip upwards, creating a poutier look
  • Unhappy facial expression, we treat the Depressor Anguli Oris (DAO) or the Marrionette lines which creases the corners of the mouth.
  • Chin dimples (Mentalis) which can cause the chin to draw in.
  • Sharpen jaw lines by relaxing the platysmas and platysmas bands leaving a more relaxed look.

What is involved in this treatment?

Prior to any treatment, a consultation will take place and you will be fully informed of the areas being treated with the option to ask as many questions as you like.

The treatment of wrinkle injections with muscle relaxants involves a very small amount of the muscle relaxant Botulumiin Toxin being injected into the tissue or muscle with a very fine needle. The treatment itself usually takes about 30 minutes. There is no down time from this non-surgical procedure however we suggest avoiding laying down for 4 hours post treatment

What can you expect from the treatment?

You can expect a more youthful and relaxed muscle appearance within 3-7 days. This effect can last for up to 3-5 months and then the expression lines will return to the way they were before the injections.

The treated expression lines and wrinkles will never be worse after treatment and sometimes the effects last longer with each treatment.

You may feel slight discomfort as the needle is inserted and the muscle relaxant is excreted but this is very brief and bearable.

There can be some side effects that people experience. These may include:

  • Slight pain and discomfort
  • Headaches
  • Bruising – you are lucky if you do not bruise
  • Slight redness and swelling at the injection site
  • There is a slight potential to develop an infection at the injection site that will require Antibiotics

As the purpose of treatment is to relax muscles the field of effect may weaken surrounding muscles which can cause a temporary drooping of the eyelid or eyebrow or smile asymmetry. These rare complications may last somewhere between 2-6 weeks’ post treatment.

Following treatment, GV Cosmetics will have you return to clinic 2 weeks post treatment for a follow consultation to ensure you are happy with your result.

When to avoid muscle relaxants injections

You should avoid these injections if you are pregnant, lactating or trying to get pregnant, if you have a known allergy to the treatment, if there is a current infection in the area you want to be treated or if you have myasthenia gravis or any neuromuscular conditions infection in the area.

What is the cost of the treatment?

The cost of treatment will be discussed with you at your free no-obligation consultation. The areas requiring treatment are very individualised.

Bruxism is the medical term for teeth grinding or clenching when either awake or asleep. Chronic teeth grinding can cause headaches, earaches, facial pain and even migraines. Teeth grinding or clenching causes dental problems such as teeth chipping or flattening, loss of tooth enamel. Most people who grind their teeth wake up with a sore jaw.

Treatment for this can include muscle relaxant injections into the masseter muscle (the large muscle that moves the jaw) to weaken the muscle to stop involuntary teeth grinding. This treatment can also provide relief to jaw soreness, headaches and other symptoms of teeth grinding as mentioned earlier.

What is involved in the treatment?

A small amount of muscle relaxant solution is injected into the selected area of the masseter muscle with a very fine needle. This procedure is very quick and usually only takes about 15 minutes. There may be some slight discomfort but it is very brief.

It takes about 7- 10 days for the muscle relaxants treatment to take effect.

What can you expect from the treatment?

Cosmetic injectables such as muscle relaxant treatment will soften the jaw and smooth the square look of the face. You would require a review within 4-6 weeks as more treatment may be required. In severe cases, even a 3rd treatment may be required. Then you can expect treatment of muscle relaxants  maintenance to be required every 4-12 months.

You may experience some pain initially and a slight headache for the next couple of days following treatment. You can expect to invest a minimum of $480 per treatment depending on the amount of hypertrophy of the masseter muscle.

HAYFEVER treatment

Allergic rhinitis  commonly known as hay fever develops when the body’s immune system becomes sensitized and overreacts to something in the environment. Allergic rhinitis takes two different forms:

  • Seasonal: Symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis can occur in spring, summer and early fall. They are usually caused by allergic sensitivity to airborne mold spores or to pollens from grass, trees and weeds.
  • Perennial: People with perennial allergic rhinitis experience symptoms year-round. It is generally caused by dust mites, pet hair or dander, cockroaches or mold. Underlying or hidden food allergies rarely cause perennial nasal symptoms.

Some common hay fever symptoms include:Runny nose

  • Itchy eyes, mouth or skin
  • Sneezing
  • Stuffy nose due to blockage or congestion
  • Fatigue (often reported due to poor quality sleep as a result of nasal obstruction)

What can you expect from the treatment ?

The treatment available does not involve needles or injections.  a small amount of muscle relaxant is inserted into each nostril.  the client is then expected to snort up  the muscle relaxant

Dermal Filler

Before&after skin treatment

Dermal filler are products used to restore, lift and enhance the signs of ageing. As we age our skin changes, our bones lose density, fat pads diminish and muscles descend causing creases, lines and deficits in our skin and facial shape. Dermal filler replaces lost volume, enhance existing facial features and can correct asymmetry.

What is involved in the treatment?

At GV Cosmetics we treat the cheeks with Dermal Fillers which are a gel like substance that enhances the existing structures of the face. Small amounts of filler are injected in several spots into the cheeks and along the cheek bones to provide volume, shape and definition to the face.

The procedure will take about 45 minutes. As the dermal filler is being injected you may experience some slight discomfort. The dermal fillers used at GV Cosmetics are applied with local anaesthetic which help to minimise the pain.

Immediately after the treatment you will see an instant natural looking result. There is usually no down time required with dermal fillers in the face.

What can you expect from the treatment?

Most side effects are temporary and mild. You can expect some pain, redness some slight swelling. Expect some occasional bruising from the injections site which may take 10- 14 days to disappear.

In very rare cases more serious side effects can occur from Dermal fillers. These adverse effects will be discussed with you at your consultation.

When to avoid Dermal Fillers

It is very important to discuss any medications you may be taking either prescribed or over the counter with your consultant. Please discuss with you consultant any inflammatory conditions you may have.

  • If you are prone to severe allergies.
  • If you have an anaphylactic reaction to bee’s stings.
  • If you are pregnant, trying to conceive or are lactating.

Lip Filler

As we age our lips tend to flatten and lose their definition. At GV Cosmetics we offer lip filler injections  to enhance the size, shape and definition of your lips. Often clients are after a fullness and a more youthful shape to their current lips.

Cosmetic injectable lip fillers are biodegradable and are based on some substances that we normally have in our body and under skin.

What is involved in the treatment?

Prior to treatment an assessment and consultation will take place with you as to what you would like to achieve. Prior to treatment some numbing cream will be applied as well as lip filler has some local anaesthetic within.

The treatment itself involves several very small injections into the upper and lower lip with a very fine needle. The procedure will take an estimate of 30 minutes and you will see instant results.

Initially due to receiving injections into a very vascular area, the lips will swell. This swelling will settle in 3-4 days.

What can you expect from the Cosmetic injectables treatment?

You can expect to see a fuller defined lip instantly. The effect after cosmetic injectables can last between 6 and 9 months, however this will depend on several factors such as lifestyle diet and skin type.

Having your lips injected with filler  can be uncomfortable as the lips are very sensitive. You can expect some swelling, redness and bruising, the amount of which is dependent on the individual. The swelling and bruising will disappear usually within 3 days.

What to do after treatment

Following lip filler treatment, you may wish to apply a cool compress or ice at 20-minute intervals and keep your lips well moisturised. It is normal for the lips to be more swollen the day after treatment.

When to avoid lip fillers

It is very important to discuss any medications you may be taking either prescribed or over the counter with your consultant. Please discuss with your consultant any inflammatory condition you may have. If you are prone to cold sore (Herpes Simplex Virus) please discuss this with your consultant it may be wise to take some preventative medication prior to treatment.

  • If you are prone to severe allergies.
  • If you have an anaphylactic reaction to bees’ stings.
  • If you are pregnant, trying to conceive or are lactating.
  • If you are planning to travel overseas within 2 weeks of treatment.
  • If you are currently taking any antibiotics or have any infections at the time of treatment.
